Dominic Grieve has welcomed the news that the Attorney General is to review the sentencing in the Baby P case.
Baroness Scotland will examine the case papers to see whether the sentences given to Baby P’s mother and her boyfriend were “unduly lenient”.
A spokesman for the Attorney General’s office said, "We have called for the papers in this case since the Attorney General has the power to refer certain sentences to the Court of Appeal for review if, after looking at all the facts, she thinks the sentence was unduly lenient.”
Dominic, the Shadow Justice Secretary, stressed, “The offence was only created a few years ago and so it is important to ensure that it is working in practice."
