Bercow encourages UKIP vote

The Daily Telegraph's leading political commentator has said House of Commons Speaker John Bercow's decision to appoint a pr adviser will encourage the voters of his Buckingham constituency to vote UKIP.

Benedict Brogan said the decision to appoint the pr handler on a salary of £107,000 gave UKIP Leader and prospective candidate for the seat Nigel Farage "something to bang on about in Buckingham."

Buckingham needs a voice, not a Speaker

UKIP today announces that it will be contesting the Buckingham parliamentary constituency at the next election against the new Speaker, John Bercow.

"John Bercow is not the man to bring the much needed transparency and honesty to Parliament." said Nigel Farage, UKIP leader." His own behaviour over expenses claims, second house flipping and the rest have made him untenable as a long term choice.

"We in UKIP will therefore be standing against him at the next election. Our prospective candidate is Dave Fowler, 57, who has lived in the area all his life and runs his own plumbing business there.

"Buckingham needs a voice, not a Speaker, so we will take Bercow on and when we defeat him Parliament will have an opportunity to think again."

Cameron congratulates new Commons Speaker

David Cameron has congratulated John Bercow, upon his election as the new Speaker of the House.

The Conservative Leader said, "You should know that, in discharging your responsibilities, it goes without saying that you have the support of those on these Benches."

And he added, "We share a collective responsibility for what went wrong; we share a collective responsibility for putting it right. Your success will enable all of us to succeed in that; and on that note, I wish you well."
