EU membership now costs £45 million a day

Britain's payments to Brussels have rocketed by more than £500 million a year according to the latest Taxpayers' Alliance report.

New figures reveal the UK handed over £16.3 Billion last year – £537 million more than the year before.

That means Britain's direct payments are now £45 million A DAY!

The figures, published by the Office of National Statistics, also show we got just £9.8 billion back in grants. So for every Pound we pay to the EU we get 60p back.

Britain is the fourth biggest contributor to the EU and Matthew Elliott of the Taxpayers' Alliance said: "It's costing taxpayers more than ever.

"We are paying record amounts to Brussels and even the limited amount they hand back to us in grants is wasted on propaganda and barmy projects."
