David Cameron has asked Gordon Brown to clarify his position on the issue of a television debate between the leaders of the main parties, after Lord Mandelson this week said the Prime Minister was open to the idea.
David said a prime time televised debate would be good for the political system, stressing, "It would help to energise our democratic process, engage the electorate and restore trust in politics."
