
The European Commission has released its proposals on possible changes in financial markets regulation.

One proposal is that: "It also recommends banning severance pay..."
European Union Commissioners, when they step down, receive up to £182,000 a year each year for the three years after they leave office.
"Boggling, isn't it" said Nigel Farage, UKIP leader. "The European Commissioners, who get one of the best severance pay packages around, are recommending that severance pay should be banned for everyone else. You couldn't make it up, could you?"
