Cameron warns Britain faces a "wasted year" with Gordon Brown

David Cameron challenged Gordon Brown to call a General Election at Prime Minister’s Questions.

He warned that the Government was in “terminal decline” after their defeat over the Gurkhas, a series of U-turns - on MPs’ expenses, Titan prisons, the internet database and public spending – and the recent article from Hazel Blears questioning Mr. Brown’s leadership.

He attacked the Prime Minister for failing to control his Cabinet and asked, “Doesn’t he realise his Government simply cannot go on like this?”

David said Mr. Brown was “just not up to the job” and warned that Britain faced a “wasted year” with “an utterly busted” Government if no General Election was held:

“What Britain needs is a strong Prime Minister with a united party behind him.”
