Deva Kumarasiri, the Nottingham sub postmaster who refused to serve customers unless they spoke English, has been sacked from his job.

Derek Clark, UKIP MEP for the East Midlands said that this was an outrage. "It´s a question of same country, same laws, same currency, same rights, so we have the same language as well.

"We´ve recently had the case of a young girl in Peterborough who couldn´t get a job in the local factory because she didn´t speak Polish." Clark continued. "We protested at that and were accused of racism. Am I going to be accused of it again because I´m defending an Asian sub postmaster who is standing up for the British language and British values?".

As Mr. Kumarasiri said when the original row started: "I've always thought I'm a British person. We have a situation now where British culture is going down so I decided it's time somebody had to put it right.

"My feeling is that when you move to a different country you have to respect the flag and the language, but that has gone. I give my country a service and it's necessary for me to learn and understand the language."

Full marks to Mr Kumarasiri who has worked out what it is to be British, what it means to be part of this country. What a pity his bosses haven´t!
