Could someone shake this chap, Aynsley-Green for me and slap him a few times "Airplane" style. These kids that are being targeted are hostile. They are carrying knives or worse and they are stabbing each other on almost a daily basis. How could anyone fail to see this fact. Secondly, they are also already alienated. They are marginalised and mistreated by a society that doesn't know what to do with them. The same society has gradually sold much of the facilities available to this age group to property developers over the years. They don't talk to nor do they have any respect for authority or adults because over the years they have also realised that there is no discipline enforced by either their parents or the state.
This ludicrous suggestion by the government's Children's Commissioner came on the day when a boy was killed and three other kids were stabbed in Sidcup. Now I try my best to be even handed and fair but I think enough is enough. We should round up wet liberals like Aynsley-Green, give them hoodies, jeans that hang somewhere between their knees and mid thighs and baseball caps and encourage them to go and be friendly with these young hostiles and try and work out what's wrong with them. We should drop them off in Tottenham or Brixton without any cash and hope they get lost on the way back to Bloomsbury or Westminster or whatever dream world they come from.
The thing that is lacking is discipline. It's obvious to anyone with a modicum of common sense and to those whom it is not, I would suggest more thought and reflection about it. It is simple, when kids were disciplined they had respect. Kids are not equals and cannot be treated as such or you get the situation we have today. Kids didn't stab each other when I was growing up. They didn't happy slap or swear all over the place. They didn't terrorise people on buses and if they were confronted by policemen, they were usually polite. Parents took responsibility for this discipline and when they didn't, the authorities did.
What has happened since I grew up is an absolute refusal by the state and a significant number of parents to discipline their children. The attitude they take to their children is; if they want something...get it for them. If they want to run around the place whatever the setting...let them. If they want to smoke...let them. If they want to drink, take drugs or rob or vandalise the local area...let them. If they want to carry knives...let them, they need to protect themselves too.
Kids don't need to be consulted or made part of the solution if they are the problem. If they should then we should also be brave enough to give them the vote. Give them the vote?...Crazy eh! They don't need fuzzy committies or chats to find out what's wrong and what would make them feel better. They need to learn and they need to be disciplined when they're bad. THEY'RE CHILDREN!!! They need an example from us. They need to learn what is acceptable in society and what is not and they need to be taught that if they break society's rules they will be punished. Their parents need to be made responsible too. If parents are blameless in all this then there is no reason for them to take their responsibilities either. It is all about responsibility and at the moment, nobody is taking any. Sure we all want the problem to go away, but nobody seems willing to take responsibility and that must stop if the UK is ever going to be a good place to live.
We need to end this culture of passing the buck and insist that everyone take his equal share of responsibility in order to claim a stake in society now or the deaths will continue and the numbers will grow.
